1)- Be a role model for them.
Don’t tell your children what you want them to do, show them. Children watch everything their parents do very carefully and grow up imitating them. So be the person you want your child to be.
2)- Increase their self-esteem.
Praising their achievements will make them proud; Allowing children to do things independently will make them feel capable and empowered. Condescending comments or comparing your child with another will upset child’s self-esteem.
3)- Congratulate their good behavior.
During the day, you may find yourself criticizing them more often than complimenting. Congratulating good behavior is the most effective approach. “You made your bed without being told – that’s great!” Statements like these will do much more than giving advice.
4)- Discipline.
Discipline is necessary in every home and its purpose is to help children choose acceptable behaviors and learn self-control. The most important thing to consider is consistency.
5)- Show your love.
Love is paramount because things like material indulgence, low expectations, and overprotection pamper the child when given instead of love and affection. Showing your child your love is as simple as cuddling, spending time with them, and listening to their problems seriously.
6)- Be the shelter to them.
Establish a secure attachment by establishing warm and responsive communication. Let your child discover things, and if they make mistakes, let them know that you will be there for them no matter what.
7)- Communication priority.
Without communicating with your children, you cannot understand them or expect them to understand you. Clarify your expectations. If there is a problem, make suggestions and offer options. Be open to your child’s suggestions, too.
8)- Environmental impact is important.
The influence of their environment on children’s behavior is quite large. If you find yourself constantly saying “no” to your 2-year-old, look for ways to change your environment so that less things are forbidden.
9)- Never hit them.
Undoubtedly, children can be very mischievous and disobedient. But hitting a child does not show him right or wrong. It only causes him to fear external consequences. It will also cause them to see violence as a solution.
10)- Give them time.
It takes time to understand, assimilate, combine, and use the information. If your child is having trouble learning, punishing him will make it harder. Be patient and give him time to learn.
