Like other cats; Tigers catch their prey wtih ambush. They use the weight and strength of their body from a point to pounce on their prey and neutralize them. When their prey lie face downwards, tigers bite neck of their prey.This kills prey by severing the spinal cord, piercing the windpipe, or rupturing the veins or arteries.
Most of the tigers do not hunt human untill they have to. Probably, only 3-4 out of 1000 tigers kill humans as prey during their lifetime. Typical human eaters are animals which are sick or old and do not hunt their usual prey, so move heavier and have to settle for smaller targets. Like all large hunters, tigers do not see humans as ideal prey.
In the wild, tigers feed on wild boars, gaur, buffalo, wild cattle, baby baby rhinos, baby elephants and sometimes even leopards and bears. Siberian tiger and brown bear are serious rivals and avoid each other as musch as possible. Statistically, the Siberian tiger is more successful because they can kill smaller bears. But tigers can and do kill larger bears.
While a female tiger has an area of around 20km², the area of male tigers is between 60 and 100km². Lots of females may come to the males’ territory, but they do not tolerate a foreign male in their area. Due to their aggressive nature, territorial disputes are very severe and often result in the death of one of the men.
